What is Holland´s best selling export article? No idea? I´ll help you out.
Yes, it is Heineken beer.
Brewed and sold by the Heineken Company, a 15bn Euro company, it is one of Holland´s most successful export product. It is sold in most countries on this planet and is still growing its number of supporters.
For the hard core beer enthusiasts, the company has established a live show here in Amsterdam at Headquarters, the Heineken Experience. You can watch how beer is made – however just on a small demo scale-, get some information on the ingredients and where they come from and at the end you get some free samples. The entrance fee is not for free – 15Euros.
As a native of Munich I must say that it is a good show, but nothing rivals a real tour through an original and working brewery in the capital of beer i.e. Munich. And the beer is much better, I must say. Anyone disagreeing with this?
But Heineken is more than beer – it is a lifestyle. Here the Germans still need to work on a little.
Prost!!

Nice story ! It would be interesting to find out how many nick names this beer “Heineken” has. We call it “heinäkenkä”. Pronounced as in flamish with the german “ä” Heinä = hey + kenkä = shoe. In old times the Finns used hey instead of socks on feet. Also in the army boots and still some do that, tradionaly, in the Same-area, Lapland, where the reindeerskin-shoes are used during hard winter days. Sure they are warm! I have a pair. PS: it has been snowing also at South-Finland today.
